Today was rather enjoyable! We got to look at professional bios and curriculum vitae of past REU students and another faculty from IU and other institutions. For our assignment, we had to research Joshua brakensiek from Carnegie Mellon University. This was probably one of my favourite sessions this week where we brainstorming on a  whiteboard on what a good design was for everyone. I have basic web design experience from high and college, so designing a bio might be a fun task to do later in the semester.

Today, we also did some mobile programming in AndroidStudio using Java and XML to write the script and style an 8ball Application. The programming aspect of the application was out of my range of expertise with my limited knowledge of HTML, CSS and javascript I still had a lot of enjoyment.

We also went over our 30-second elevator pitches with our mentors, when I looked at the schedule for today I could feel my faculty mentors at my local university laughing up a storm as its something we have to do constantly on campus and as a McNair Scholar. We also had to vote for our top 5 projects today, so I’m excited to see who my faculty mentor will be for the next ten weeks!
