Day 2

Hey Everybody,

Today was a very busy day. We had plenty of research presentations throughout the day. I thought that all of them were intresting and i like the way that people asked questions so we can get more insight on the researcher’s intel when it comes to researching. We also learned how to Soder with Ben today. It’s for a good cause and i enjoyed re-learning how to Soder with the Paper circuits to give back. Afterwards, I got introduced to Arudino, A programming project that allows you to program tasks. For homework, we had to see how people intereacted with others with a cell phone.  I decided to go to Kroger, since i was going to get grocies already. I saw plenty of people just using their phones the entire time, not looking up to speak to people. It was intresting to see how people are so drawn to their phones, not looking to enjoy their surrondings. I’m trying to improve on this myself, with learning to be less on my phone and enjoying the people around me. Temporal Mapping was the topic i decided to pick, since i wanted to observe the body movements of people while they were on their phones. It was kind of hard to zoom in on one person because everybody seemed to be drown in their phones.

Summary:

The study was about the methods that were used throughout the research. The study was 22 weeks long and The participants was 11 women who were ages from 32 to 68. The women in the study each had a rare disease. The study was online and Facebook was the only way that the women could interact with each other. The researchers were looking for ways to increase participation. The women didn’t express a lot of feelings, which didn’t help the study at all. This was a learning step for the researchers as they learned that research studies always don’t go the way that it’s usually planned and that you have to give max effort no matter how it goes.

Summary:

This study had 19 Participants and their age range was anywhere from 18-60 and had the number of years that they were living with HIV was anywhere from 1-30 years. Facebook was the only form of communication for the participants. This allowed them to create their own relationships and supported one another. The participants were more intereactive with each other and were more interested as well. The ARC method was effective and allowed Participants to use social media as a key to develop relationships as well.

Today was tough, but tomorrow is going to be better. I will continue to improve everyday and i’m blessed for Indiana University for giving me this opporunity
