We are The Champions – Week 10

Monday
On Monday, Mina and I reworked the video. We decided to make a video focusing on our project so that we could submit it with our paper to TEI or another conference. Then Mina and I had an exit interview about the REU program. After lunch, Mina and I meet with Ben to discuss our progress on recruiting participants for the workshop and finishing our toolkits. We decided to submit an amendment to the IRB so that we could compensate our participants with cash instead of gift cards because we had cash available. We also finalized the poster because we needed to add emails for our names at the top and sources for each of the photos on the spectrum.

Tuesday
On Tuesday, I focused preparing for the workshop. We were still trying to recruit participants and ensure that all of the toolkits were ready for the sets. I went through the LilyPad Arduinos and loaded the code to test the toolkit. I also test each set that I made using alligator clips to make sure that the each version was functioning. I also worked a bit more on the TEI paper. We are preparing the Introduction, Related Works and Methods section so that when we conduct the study everything will be ready.

Wednesday
On Wednesday, Mina and I met with Ben and Dr. Siek in the morning to discuss the workshop progress and our progress on the paper. We also reviewed the poster and the video. After the meetings we printed out our posters from the library. In the afternoon, Mina, Ben, and I interviewed three participants. It was really interesting to see how participants interacted with the toolkits and which version they preferred.

Thursday
Thursday was a little hectic. I came in early to meet with Dr. Siek and discuss potential research projects for the future. I may stay on the work on a project concerning the needs of female veterans. Then Mina and I met with Ben to talk about final steps with our project. It was our last day of work and Mina and I needed to make sure that all of our data was in order and the physical materials were packed. We also had five participants scheduled to participate in the workshop. We managed to get all five participants through the workshop and get their data on Box. We also packed up our physical prototyping materials to be put away.

Friday
Friday was a little hectic as well. My suite work up early to clean up and check out of our dorms. Then we went down to the IMU for our poster presentation. The poster presentation was really fun because we were able to talk to other people about our work. Then we had a goodbye lunch and heard a talk from a keynote speaker. It was a little sad to say goodbye to everyone. After the poster presentation and the lunch, we got on a shuttle to the airport.
