First week, day two.

We all gathered outside our dorm and marched towards the informatics building. Since, Gabi and Ej are quiet familiar with the campus they guided us the whole way to the informatics building. Dr. Siek made some suggestions on our blog and gave us some ideas on making them better. Andrew Neel explained us about the ethics of research, which was quiet interesting because I had never imagined that there are so many things to take care of while conducting a research. “Our research should not affect anyone’s life negatively, so we should be aware about norms and ethics”.

Then, Ann taught us about Github and its applications. I was familiar with Github so, I enjoyed the class. It was fun.  We went to Ben’s lab and learned about paper circuits and their use. We made a simple paper circuit and played with it here and there. This was just a practice for the upcoming girls scout camp where were are supposed to teach paper circuits to the girl scouts. we learned to install arduino and run sample codes on them. Then, came the main event of the day, learning to use sharelatex. I had never used sharelatex before but was familiar with its use. We wrote a simple paper using sharelatex and also inserted some images to it. We were basically getting familiar with it.

We had short discussion about our assignments and future activities. Ann described her project to us. She is trying to build a grief support technology for people who have lost their loved ones recently.
