Week 10

July 28, 2016

It’s the final week and as I write this we only have one day left! The feeling is pretty bittersweet because I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished and I’m ready to apply my skills to my overall academic life, but at the same time I am going to miss all of the students I’ve met. Ten weeks went really fast but through this time, I feel as though I’ve made some life long friendships.

Just to reflect on my experience as a whole, I would have to give it a 10/10. I’ve learned so many things that I know I wouldn’t have been able to if I did not participate in this program. I was very lucky to be accepted and feel as though this program has changed me for the better. I’ve definitely learned a lot more about myself and the type of career I would like to pursue. Prohealth has given me skills that I will be able to use as I strive to excel in my research career as well as skills I can apply to my overall self. These skills vary from how to use necessary applications such as Github and ShareLaTeX to how to present and communicate my ideas effectively.

I hope that anyone thinking of applying to this program does because you will not regret it! It’s probably one of the best things I’ve done in my academic career. Not because I am still early in my academic career but because what the program offers is so beneficial.

When I was not working, I was able to hang out with friends in the program as well as friends I had met at various places (gym, store, etc..). I also liked that the program had many social events such as the ProHealth Tea’s. We were able to mingle with faculty and fellow students at these events which helped create a sense of community within the program.

Overall I’d like to thank everyone for being so awesome, I really had one of the best summers and if I could go back and do it again, I definitely would.
