Week Five: Monday, June 20th – Friday, June 24th

 Weekly Reflection

This week was busy and hectic for Devon and I.  We plan to start beta testing everything on July 5th, so we are trying to finish everything.  Our timeline has not changed, but because we are aiming to keep the same timeline but are making iterations to our project, Devon and I are working longer hours.  After our last meeting with Dr. Kay Connelly and Majdah Alshehri it was decided that we would not use Luke’s code and use of Google Credentials.  This was because it was too time consuming to figure out and we would instead use a MySQL database set up through IU.  So, we started over but Devon and I kept saying that the third time is the charm, and so far that seems to be the case.  In our meeting, we also discussed that we would be submitting to CHI Student in January and a link is in the links section.  Everything is going well so far and we have completed a lot, but there is still more to get done.

 Daily Reflections

 Monday

Monday was the day that Devon and I started coding the new app.  We took bits and pieces from both Luke’s app and the one we had previously created, but a lot had to be done still.  But before we could start coding we helped out teaching paper circuits in the SOIC camp.  This was fun for me because as a Computer Engineering major, circuits are a large component of my curriculum.  I also worked on our paper getting the introduction ready for peer review.

Tuesday

Devon and I worked separately the entire day.  With so much coding to do, we decided to split it up to get more done.  My task was to implement all of the survey XML files.  I completed the XML files and they looked snazzy if I do say so myself.  I also worked on my professional website on Tuesday for a bit.

Wednesday

Devon and I thought that it would be useful to plan out the app and what it needs to do.  So, we made flow charts using draw.io and they are shown below in the next section.  This took up a lot of our day but we also synced some of the XML files to the SQLite database.  We worked for 12 hours on Wednesday, so we were a bit exhausted to say the least.  Since we worked through dinner, Devon and I got dinner at Butch’s Grillacatessen & Eatzeria.  I had never been there before but the food was really good.

Thursday

I started the day bright and early at 7am.  I spent a lot of the morning completing my peer review for the ProHealth deliverables.  I try and be thorough and give constructive criticism, so it takes me quite a bit of time.  I then updated our reviewer response table, which can be seen down below in the next section.  I also completed my website and the link is below in the next section.

Friday

Friday is going to be a day full of meetings.  So, I am going into work at 7:30 in order to get things done before the chaos starts.  Devon and I have meetings from 9am until 1pm and then we have the bi-weekly ProHealth Tea at 3pm.  We hope to get the MySQL and SQLite databases synced today, but if not that will be our first task on Monday.
