Day 9 (This weeks progression)

6/7/16

Savannah’s (Daily) Reflection

 Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

So far this week I have been trying to scrape the internet (blogs) to extract text of consumers. It has been rough, but I will keep researching and exhausting all my options. I have been attempting to use Python Scrapy, I will give more updates later in the week. I Plan to work on my Intro, related works, and methods after I have made hedge way on extracting text from the web.

Meetings with Sriraam

MONDAY

As I said before, Sriraam is awesome. He is teaching me well, while allowing me to enjoy myself. We originally were scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it has now been switched to Mondays and Thursdays at 3 p.m.

This past Monday (June 6th), Sriraam’s team gathered in the lab on the first floor. We began with going over some general information we needed to know; such as, meeting times, tips, and times he would be available in his office. He taught me that when reading articles or papers its more important to know the author’s name, gist of the paper, year published, and where its published rather than knowing the title. He then went over a power point that gave Open Problems and (possibly) Low-Hanging Fruits—This basically listed all the current projects he is supervising (working on) himself.

  1. ADEs
  2. Boosting Relational Hybrid Networks (W/ Advice?)
  3. Relational POMDP’s
  4. Relational IRL
  5. Relational IL
  6. Clinical Data Analysis
  7. Some Low Hanging Fruits (Short-Term Projects)
    1. Boosting Tractable MLN’s
    2. Inductive Transfer
    3. Relation2Vecs
    4. Propositional Learning Using Boostings
    5. Boosting SPNs or ACS
    6. Boosting Unsupervised Learning of MLNs
    7. Boosting inside DeepDive
